Privacy Policy

How we handle your data.

Last updated: July 7, 2026

The short version

Everything you do inside Anchored stays on your device — your paused apps, check-ins, and reflections are never collected. We have no user accounts. Three outside services are involved: Apple processes your purchases, RevenueCat manages your subscription entitlements, and Meta receives basic conversion events (install, app opened, trial started, purchase) so we can measure our ads — with your device's advertising identifier included only if you allow tracking when iOS asks.

Anchored (“the app,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) is an iOS application by Aurora Industries, LLC that helps people use their phones more mindfully through Apple's Screen Time and Family Controls APIs, guided breathwork, and intentional pauses. This Privacy Policy explains what data Anchored handles, how it is used, and why almost all of it never leaves your device.

1. Information We Collect

Almost everything Anchored stores lives only on your device, using Apple's standard local storage (UserDefaults, SwiftData, and Apple's secure shared App Group container for Screen Time data). The following information is stored on your device:

  • The apps, categories, and websites you choose to pause, selected through Apple's Family Activity picker
  • Your pause sessions, breathwork sessions, mood check-ins, and onboarding answers
  • App preferences and settings (selected practices, notification preferences, intention text)
  • Your Anchored Plus subscription entitlement state (whether you currently have access to premium features)

In-app purchases are completed through Apple's App Store payment system. Anchored uses RevenueCat, a third-party subscription management service, to verify purchase status and determine your Anchored Plus entitlement. Anchored never sees or stores your payment card details. See Third-Party Services below for the limited data RevenueCat may process.

2. Information We Do Not Collect

Anchored does not collect or transmit any of the following:

  • Your name, email address, phone number, or any contact information
  • Your location
  • Your contacts, calendar, photos, or microphone data
  • The contents of any other app you use
  • The websites you visit (blocking runs entirely on-device through Apple's Family Controls framework)
  • The contents of your pauses, check-ins, reflections, or breathwork sessions

Anchored has no user accounts and no login, and operates no servers of its own. The only information that leaves your device is the limited purchase and subscription data RevenueCat needs to manage your entitlements, and the ad-measurement events described in Third-Party Services below.

3. Screen Time and Family Controls Data

Anchored uses Apple's Family Controls framework so you can choose which apps, categories, and websites to pause. When you grant Screen Time authorization:

  • Your selections are stored in a secure, opaque token (FamilyActivitySelection) that even we cannot read — only the system understands its contents.
  • This selection stays on your device and is never transmitted off it.
  • Anchored does not see, log, or share which specific apps you use, how long you use them, or what you do inside them.

4. iOS Permissions Anchored Requests

Anchored asks for three iOS permissions:

  • Screen Time / Family Controls — required to pause apps, categories, and websites you choose. Your selections remain opaque to us; only the system knows what they are.
  • Notifications — used only for local, on-device reminders (such as a gentle nudge to take a pause). All notifications are scheduled and delivered locally by iOS. Anchored does not send push notifications from a server.
  • App Tracking Transparency — on first launch, iOS asks whether Anchored may track you across other companies' apps and websites. This governs only ad measurement (see Third-Party Services). If you decline, no advertising identifier is shared and measurement falls back to Apple's privacy-preserving SKAdNetwork.

You can revoke or change either permission at any time in iOS Settings.

5. How We Use Your Information

On-device data is used solely to provide the app's functionality:

  • To pause the apps and websites you've chosen, when you've asked Anchored to
  • To show your own session history, mood check-ins, and reflections back to you
  • To remember your preferences between launches and unlock Anchored Plus features when applicable

Aside from the purchase and subscription data RevenueCat needs to manage your access, your information stays on your device. We do not personalize, profile, or sell anything based on it.

6. Third-Party Services

Anchored relies on three external services — two to handle purchases and subscription access, and one to measure advertising:

  • Apple StoreKit / App Store payments — in-app purchases are completed through Apple's App Store payment system. Apple's privacy policy governs that processing: apple.com/legal/privacy.
  • RevenueCat subscription management — Anchored uses RevenueCat to verify purchase status, restore purchases, manage your subscription and lifetime entitlements, and keep your Anchored Plus access in sync. To provide this, RevenueCat may process limited purchase- and subscription-related data, such as an app user ID, product ID, purchase status, entitlement status, transaction and receipt information, device and app metadata, and diagnostics needed to make purchases work. Anchored does not receive or store your payment card details. RevenueCat's privacy policy governs its processing: revenuecat.com/privacy.
  • Meta advertising measurement — Anchored uses the Meta (Facebook) SDK to measure whether our ads work, nothing more. Basic conversion events — install, app opened, onboarding completed, trial started, purchase (with price) — are reported to Meta. If you allowed tracking when iOS asked, these events include your device's advertising identifier (IDFA) so Meta can attribute them to an ad; if you declined, no identifier is shared and measurement happens through Apple's aggregate SKAdNetwork instead. What happens inside Anchored — the apps you pause, your check-ins, your Screen Time data — is never shared with Meta. Meta's privacy policy governs its processing: facebook.com/privacy/policy.

Your Screen Time / Family Controls selections always remain on your device and are never sent to RevenueCat, Meta, or anyone else.

7. Data Sharing and Disclosure

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. The only information that leaves your device is the purchase- and subscription-related data Apple and RevenueCat process to complete payments and manage your entitlements, and the ad-measurement events shared with Meta as described above — each used only for that purpose.

The narrow exception is if we were ever legally required to cooperate with a valid government or legal request. Anchored itself holds no personal data on its own servers; any purchase records would be held by Apple or RevenueCat under their privacy policies.

8. Data Security

Anchored does not operate its own servers or a central database of user data, so there is no Anchored-run database to breach. Local data on your device is protected by iOS's standard sandboxing and encryption mechanisms. The limited purchase data handled by Apple and RevenueCat is secured by those providers under their own security practices and privacy policies.

9. Data Retention and Deletion

Because nearly everything is stored on your device, you control its retention:

  • Deleting the app removes all Anchored data from your device.
  • You can reset preferences within the app's Settings.
  • Your subscription status can be restored through Apple if you reinstall.

10. Subscriptions

Anchored Plus is offered as an auto-renewing subscription (weekly or annual) through Apple. Purchases, renewals, refunds, and cancellations are handled by Apple's StoreKit and your Apple ID. See our Terms of Use for the full subscription terms.

11. Your Rights and Choices

Most privacy rights (access, correction, deletion, portability) are satisfied automatically by the app's design: your data is already in your hands. You can view, edit, or remove anything stored on-device through the app, or by deleting the app entirely.

For subscription-related data held by Apple, you can manage or cancel subscriptions in iOS Settings → your Apple ID → Subscriptions.

12. Children's Privacy

Anchored is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has used the app and there is data you would like reviewed, please contact us.

13. International Data Transfers

Anchored itself does not transmit your personal data internationally. The limited purchase, subscription, and ad-measurement data described above is processed by Apple, RevenueCat, and Meta, whose services operate globally and are governed by their respective privacy policies.

14. California Privacy Rights

If you are a California resident, you have rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), including:

  • The right to know what personal information we collect, use, and disclose
  • The right to request deletion of your personal information
  • The right to opt out of the sale of personal information (we do not sell personal information)
  • The right to non-discrimination for exercising your privacy rights

Because Anchored does not collect personal information, most of these rights are inherently satisfied.

15. European Privacy Rights

If you are in the European Economic Area (EEA), you have rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Anchored keeps your in-app data on your device; the ad-measurement events described above are shared with Meta only on the basis of the consent you give (or withhold) through Apple's tracking prompt, and you can change that choice anytime in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking. If you have questions, contact us using the details below.

16. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected on this page with a revised “Last updated” date. For material changes, we may provide additional notice. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
